Responsible for advanced assessment, clinical and functional diagnosis of patients who have palliative and end of life care needs using a range of highly specialist assessments and clinical observation skills in relation to the BCYP physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional, psychological, and social functioning. To undertake comprehensive profession specific and/or holistic multidisciplinary assessments of BCYP including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to provide an appropriate person-centred treatment programme. To formulate and deliver individual occupational therapy intervention based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of specialist treatment skills to promote optimal independence, improve functional capacity and quality of life. Sound knowledge of the impact of sensory processing disorder and ability to recognise and implement strategies to assist. Able to utilise psychological interventions to empower BCYP and care givers. To provide moving and handling assessments where appropriate. This includes having or developing knowledge and skills in the use of all specialist equipment used in the provision of patient care, movement, and postural programmes and to disseminate that knowledge as required to other staff, patients, and families if necessary.
