Business Intelligence Lead (BI Lead) Caledonian Sleeper Limited- Glasgow Hybrid working- 2 days per week in office Circa £60,000 per annum plus benefits Caledonian Sleeper Limited have a new and exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Lead to join the team based in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated professional to join the Caledonian Sleeper (“CSL”) team. This is a new role in the organisation that will have a remit to drive insight and value from a broad array of data in ways not previously addressed. CSL is in the latter stages of transitioning from the operation previously franchised to Serco to being a stand-alone organisation in public ownership. The establishment of new systems (primarily Microsoft Dynamics 365) has created a new environment with new data to interrogate and a fresh opportunity to add value. The role will research, gather, and use data from across the organisation to develop reporting, insights and solutions across various business functions. Key data sources across the organisation include the financial, operational, and guest experience functions. CSL is data rich, and this role will be responsible for ensuring the organisation manages that data in an organised, consistent way and then derives valuable insights that are presentable in a user-friendly manner to senior management, operational budget holders and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data and have a proven track record of delivering high quality BI solutions. Main Accountabilities: Influence and optimise the design and maintenance of data warehousing systems. Develop and implement Business Intelligence strategies and solutions. Utilise state of the art technologies to develop reporting. Collaborate with various departments to identify key business metrics. Develop solutions that identify trends and insights. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Create and manage dashboards and reports to support decision-making. Develop a consistency in approach to the reporting of BI across the organisation. Prioritise operational areas to maximise value-add. Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all BI solutions. Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and solutions. Manage BI projects from inception to completion. Develop and maintain documentation for BI processes and systems. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions. Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies. Collaborate with IT to ensure proper integration of BI and broader IT systems. Prepare and present value-add BI opportunities to senior management. Manage the BI budget tightly and effectively. Support ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests. Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies. What you’ll need to do the role: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Business Analytics/Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Systems). Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of data warehousing and related technologies. Proven experience of translating complex data sets into valuable insight reporting. Experience with BI tools such as Power BI. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, proactively building strong relationships. Effective collaboration and influencing will be key to develop effective BI solutions that match to stakeholders’ needs. Effective presentation skills to various stakeholders will be a requirement. Process Improvement and Systems Proficiency: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices, process enhancements, and system solutions. Proficient in utilising BI software and tools to develop user-friendly reporting. Strategic and Critical Thinking: Capability to assess and analyse business dynamics from both operational and strategic viewpoints, adding value by constructively challenging and influencing to drive positive change. Further qualifications or evidence of continued professional development in the area. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Knowledge of data governance and security best practices. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Creative thinking to develop fresh approaches to business-wide reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with Dynamics 365 and Power BI will also be an advantage. Experience with cloud-based BI solutions is a plus. Strong project management skills. Ability to stay up to date with industry trends and technologies. Experience with statistical analysis and data modelling. Ability to provide training and support to end-users.
