HGV Jetvac Engineer
Choose a career with the UK’s biggest independent drainage specialist
The Lanes Group needs a HGV Jet Vac Engineer to join our Operational Team. The depot is a well-established team that is looking to expand further with another strong member of staff.
The job:
You will be part of a two-person team, operating our high specification jetting equipment and vacuumation units. Work projects will include any drainage-related issues, including blockage clearance, pipe cleansing programmes, and emergency reactive works.
Although you start at the depot, you will be mobile attending to all work activities within various work sectors, including industrial, rail, utility, commercial, and residential. Travelling in your vehicle, you will be covering jobs throughout the region, which can involve travel times added in addition.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week (7am-5pm, 30 mins unpaid lunch). Being flexible is important due to travel requirements.
*Hourly rate up to £14.50 dependent on experience*
About you:
You will already be familiar with high-pressure jetting equipment and/or drainage networks. You will be required to hold an HGV Class 2 licence, with no more than 3 penalty points ideally. A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential.
You can become a successful Utilities Waste-Water Technician if you have problem-solving, listening, critical thinking, teamworking abilities, and a customer-focused approach. Also, as you need to operate machinery, excellent hand-eye coordination and concentration are essential skills. The following skills are also essential:
* A driving licence with no more than 6 points
* An in-date CSCS would be advantageous – however, this could be obtained if necessary
* Valid CPC
* Drainage experience
To work in the Utilities industry, you may have to compete with inclement weather outdoors. Protective clothing such as a hi-vis jacket, boots, and a helmet are mandatory requirements, and you may be asked to travel to different sites. The workday starts early, especially during the summer, when there is light in the morning, but drains can be blocked at any hour of the day, and emergency assistance can often be needed.
You will be expected to comply with all Group Health Safety and Environmental compliance. Full training will be provided as part of a Group Induction Training package, which will include high-pressure jetting course, confined space, manual handling, first aid, and other relevant courses to obtain certification.
Benefits:
* Enhanced overtime rates (Time 1.5 Weekends, Time 1.25 Weekdays)
* 21 days holiday + bank holidays
* Life Assurance scheme
* Auto enrolment pension scheme
* Performance-related incentive bonus scheme
* Friendly working environment as part of a growing successful Group
