About Us:
Teaching Personnel are a dedicated teaching agency who are currently working on behalf of a Secondary School based in Birmingham, B30. The school are looking for an experienced attendance officer to work on a full-time basis and liase with parents/careers, school staff and external agencies in relation to the attendance of their students.
Job Description:
The Attendance Officer will be responsible for monitoring and recording student attendance, ensuring accurate data entry, and supporting the school’s efforts to reduce absenteeism. This role requires excellent communication skills to engage with parents, guardians, and students, as well as strong organizational skills to manage attendance records and reports.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor daily student attendance, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are kept.
* Contact parents/guardians regarding student absences and lateness.
* Investigate and address any issues related to high levels of absenteeism.
* Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and counselors to support students with attendance challenges.
* Ensure compliance with local and school attendance policies and regulations.
* Prepare and maintain attendance reports for school administration.
* Track and follow up on patterns of absence, late arrivals, and early departures.
* Provide administrative support for the implementation of attendance improvement programs.
* Organize and maintain attendance records, reports, and relevant documentation.
* Maintain confidentiality and act professionally in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
* Participate in meetings or training related to student attendance and school policies.
Requirements:
* Experience working in an educational environment or with student records (preferred but not required).
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficient in using office software, such as Microsoft Office or school management software (e.g., SIS).
* Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
* A compassionate and empathetic approach when dealing with students and families.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
