Indirect Tax Manager
Location: Fully Remote (Within the UK)
Contract: Permanent

Job Purpose
As an Online Marketplace selling in 41 countries, Fruugo is affected by tax rules both in terms of ensuring that our retailer partners declare the correct tax on their sales under newer ‘deemed supplier rules’. Fruugo is responsible for collection and declaration of Sales Tax in multiple jurisdictions. The Indirect Tax Manager will play a key role in important compliance and optimisations strategies.
This is a critical role to support Fruugo’s international sales activities and ambitious growth plans including entering new territories. You will be a key member of Fruugo’s growing Finance team which is currently 18 strong. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of indirect tax strategy, planning, compliance, reporting, and creating best-in-class processes and controls.
Main responsibilities include:
* Overall responsibility for Fruugo’s indirect tax strategy, including identifying indirect tax risks and opportunities arising from Fruugo’s global business.
* Implementing robust controls across multiple jurisdictions and ensuring tax processes are scalable and can support Fruugo’s international growth.
* Ensuring global sales tax compliance, delivering all global sales tax reporting, leading Fruugo’s relationship with global sales tax authorities, managing any sales tax audits, and complying with global platform reporting obligations.
* Leading the budgeting, planning, and subsequent execution of global sales tax payments on time, every time.
* Monitoring changes in tax legislation, assessing business impact, providing strategic advice to senior management, and communicating changes across the business.
* Collaborating with various operational teams to ensure seamless integration of indirect tax considerations into business processes and decision-making.
* Ownership of indirect tax balance sheet reconciliations, including documentation and continuous improvement processes.
* Ensuring a high level of internal stakeholder satisfaction, building excellent relationships across the business.
To succeed in the role, you will:
* Hold an accounting and/or tax qualification (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
* Have extensive indirect tax experience in a multi-national industry, a track record of developing indirect tax strategies and, ideally, experience gained within an Online Marketplace.
* This is a hands-on role, and the successful candidate will have a desire to work on compliance including completion and filing tax returns in all jurisdictions Fruugo operates in, alongside planning and helping the business understand the tax implications of new business initiatives.
* Possess excellent knowledge of global sales tax regulations including deemed supplier rules, platform reporting obligations and future legislation affecting online marketplaces.
* Have a proven ability to identify opportunities for tax savings and indirect tax recoveries.
* Have a track record of managing US sales tax, including managing third party tax management software.
* Be an excellent project manager, driven, with a mindset to get things done whilst bringing the relevant stakeholders along the journey with you.
* Have experience optimizing, automating, and streamlining processes.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and provide practical business advice.
* Have excellent communication skills with an ability to explain and report tax matters to members of the Fruugo team including the Board in a clear and simple way.
* Be able to travel to the Manchester Office for occasional Finance Team time.
