Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Nurse Practitioner
Are you a compassionate and experienced nurse seeking a dynamic role in oncology care? Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team at Musgrove Park Hospital. You may need to work at Yeovil District Hospital on occasion if required.
This post is a band 7 position but experienced band 6 SACT nurses who are willing to undertake the training required to fulfil the role may be considered for a developmental post.
Main duties of the job
As a SACT Nurse Practitioner, you will deliver expert care and support to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment. Working collaboratively across hospital and community settings, you'll provide specialist advice, holistic patient-centered care, and lead on service development to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage complex clinical situations with confidence and autonomy.
* Conduct nurse-led clinics, including oncology pre-assessment and SACT administration.
* Prescribe or oversee treatment adjustments as an independent prescriber.
* Act as an advocate, mentor, and educator to patients, carers, and colleagues.
* Lead service improvements and clinical audits to ensure the highest standards of care.
* Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families during their cancer journey.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RGN Degree level or willingness to work towards.
* Current NMC registration.
* 3 years and current experience of SACT administration.
* Degree level module relating to SACT.
* Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake.
* Advanced communication skills training or willingness to undertake.
* Teaching qualification.
* Recognised Cancer Course at degree level.
Experience
* 3 years post registration experience in Oncology and or Haematology.
* Relevant teaching experience.
* Experience of undertaking audit.
* Expert in the administration of SACT.
* Experience of participating in non-medical led clinics.
* Experience of change management and project development.
Additional Criteria
* Able to demonstrate knowledge about cancer, its treatments, and disease implications.
* Able to demonstrate knowledge about the cancer reform strategy and an awareness of health policy in relation to SACT.
* Basic knowledge of the Patient and Public Involvement agenda.
* Up-to-date knowledge of current evidence-based practice in nursing.
* Evidence of change management or knowledge of change management strategies.
* Knowledge of undertaking research.
