Due to continued expansion, our well-established and thriving high street law firm is seeking a conscientious and organised Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our Cashier and wider team by undertaking various financial tasks. Accuracy in data entry and good maths skills are essential, as are communication and client-service skills. Previous knowledge of Legal Accounts is not required as ongoing training and support will be provided.
Duties
* Ensure adherence to the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
* Perform accurate data entry for financial transactions and maintain accurate and up-to-date records utilising specialised Legal Accounts software.
* Assist with accounts payable processes, including invoice verification and payment processing.
* Collaborate with legal departments to produce accurate invoices and statements, and resolve discrepancies.
* Process incoming and outgoing client payments accurately and in a timely manner to support legal transactions.
* Undertake financial reconciliations, and assist in month-end closing activities and the production of reports.
* Run payroll, maintain PAYE, sickness and leaves records.
* Open, archive, and destroy client files.
* Maintain an organised filing system for financial documents and correspondence.
* Provide administrative and reception support as required.
Requirements
* Previous experience in an accounts assistant role or similar is not needed.
* IT literacy is essential, but knowledge of specific programs is not required.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent organisational skills are essential.
* Ability to work effectively independently, closely with a small team, and with other departments.
* Mathematical competency essential.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for liaising with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
