Our client, a well established machinery manufacturer, is currently seeking a Software Applications Engineer to join their growing team!
Based in Norwich, this vacancy is available on a full time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week.

Job Purpose:
Assist with the development, installation and commissioning of our client’s machines including being able to work under pressure and meet customer driven deadlines as required.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Create and modify PLC synchronised motion applications written in structured text or ladder for machines in Beckhoff, Schneider, Allen-Bradley and Siemens as detailed by the technical department and associated functional specification (FS).
2. Manage Git repositories.
3. Install and configure Linux IPCs in machines.
4. Write software programs for safety PLCs as detailed by the FS and design risk assessment in compliance with relevant standards.
5. Write HMI software as detailed by the FS adhering to the format as detailed by the technical department.
6. Liaise with the electrical department in allocating and agreeing I/O identity and other associated elements of machine control.
7. Electrical troubleshooting.
8. Create Sistema files as required.
9. Maintain and update software records and program backup data.
10. Assist electrical department as priorities and workload require.
11. To visit customer’s premises as and when required to update/fault find commission/install and repair machinery, sometimes at short notice.
12. To be prepared to work flexible hours both onsite and away when visiting customer’s premises (as and when required).
13. To be prepared to travel to (and on occasion stay at) customer’s premises when working on their machinery as required.
14. To undertake appropriate training courses as and when required.
15. To undertake and conform to our client’s and Safe Contractor working practices.
16. Provide time estimates of software programming for project estimating purposes.
17. Any other duties within employee’s skill set as directed by our client’s management.
