We are recruiting on behalf of our well-established client who is looking for an Assistant/Trainee QS.
Working closely with a Quantity Surveyor to support with purchasing and administrative tasks related to specific projects. This is a full-time position, in the office 5 days a week.
Primary Responsibilities
Core role:
1. Procurement of building materials (from schedules), bracketry & metalwork (from drawings) - tendering, following up to receive quotes on time, analysing quotes, discussing with the QS, tracking against budgets, negotiating with suppliers, drafting and placing purchase orders.
2. Update these packages on the procurement schedule (Excel), and track and remind for upcoming releases.
3. Following up suppliers to ensure lead times are maintained and delivered on.
4. Maintain a materials management schedule (Excel) to track materials from point of order through to confirmed arrival on site, including with locations, dates, orders, delivery notes, pallet/stillage refs, photos etc.
5. Deal with reactive procurement issues e.g. missing materials, & site requests in coordination with the team.
6. Coordination with project team/s throughout above.
7. Assisting QS with pricing of variations - obtaining quotes from suppliers etc.
8. Assisting QS with monthly application and vesting processes.
9. On-site installation records tracking & checking.
10. Budgeting exercises in advance of the release of final design, and monitoring budgets as we progress through on site, e.g. plant, building materials, forecasting costs to go.

Experience
Some experience in the construction industry - ideally at least a year of experience in a similar role.
Qualifications
At least 5 GCSE results of A-C / 5-9 grades.
Training
On-the-job training given as standard. Other relevant training can be considered.
