Small Claims & Credit Hire Litigation Executive/Paralegal

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5pm
MPJ Recruitment Ltd are proud to be supporting one of our law firm clients on the role of Small Claims & Credit Hire Litigator/Paralegal based in their office based in Orpington, Kent.
Our client is looking for somebody with proven experience as either a pre-litigation or post litigator with a minimum of 2 years experience of dealing with Small Claims and Credit Hire cases.
The client has been trading for over 10 years and invests heavily in the training and support of their staff development along with keeping their technical expertise up to date.
Role:
As a Small Claims & Credit Hire Litigator, you will be responsible for pro-actively managing a portfolio of cases suitable for litigation through to settlement or final hearing.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a mixed case-load including but not limited to liability disputes, repair, credit hire small claims cases.
2. Effective management of the litigation process to ensure SLA’s are met.
3. Work a task list effectively.
4. Negotiation of quantum & assessing liability.
5. Drafting Court documents.
6. Liaise with client’s regarding uninsured losses and to obtain relevant case information in a competent manner.
7. Adhering to all court deadlines.
8. Take and Draft comprehensive statements.
9. Book and instruct Counsel to attend trial.
10. Allocate settlement funds.
11. Undertake file reviews, supervision and sign off on Court documents for junior members of the team.
12. Delivering quality work.
Who will this role suit?
The ideal candidate will be someone with at least 2 years’ experience as a Case Handler/File Handler within the insurance industry, highly motivated and who enjoys a challenge, who knows how important it is to deliver exceptional customer service, communicating well by telephone and in writing. You will be happy to communicate with clients, insurers, brokers, the Court, Solicitors and Barristers. You will be a quick learner, someone who likes to take ownership but is also able to thrive in a team while ensuring quality output, with a great eye for detail, working as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will be able to work calmly under pressure in an organised and efficient manner, with the ability to multitask and prioritise, using our case management system and ensuring they are running an effective diary system.
This role requires the candidate to have full knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules relating to RTA/Motor Insurance Claims with little supervision. Credit hire experience is desirable.
