Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Trust for an experienced and dynamic physiotherapist to lead our Respiratory Therapy team at Heartlands and Good Hope Hospitals. This permanent post enables the successful candidate to practice specialist respiratory physiotherapy skills in the acute treatment of a deteriorating patient, application of non-invasive ventilation, respiratory admission avoidance and the ongoing management and education of patients with acute and long term complex respiratory needs. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative physiotherapist with proven experience of working in the field of respiratory medicine to co-lead the acute NIV physiotherapy service. Applicants must be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge including assessment of acutely unwell respiratory patients, application of NIV, recognise benefits and limitations of NIV, be able to evaluate its effectiveness and adjust treatment plans where necessary. The post-holder will be expected to lead and support team members with appraisals, preceptorship, supervision and mentoring. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting clinical excellence and evidence-based practice through their clinical work and as part of the departmental in-service training programme. Excellent leadership, communication, team working and organisational skills are essential. Evidence of service evaluation, audit and research is required. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will job share team leadership with existing post holder, leading a team of specialist & rotational therapists based on the RSU Respiratory ward. You will work closely with other Band 7's within the wider respiratory team including long term ventilation, neuromuscular specialists, critical care, cystic fibrosis and paediatric teams. The post-holder will work alongside and collaborate with a diverse and specialist multi-disciplinary team including Respiratory Nurses, Respiratory Consultants, Physiologists, Critical Care practitioners and community agencies. This post is based at our Good Hope Hospital site however, as the Trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services. Applicants will be required to participate in the departmental respiratory overnight on-call system and 7 day weekend working rota within the Respiratory Therapy team.
