Description The apprentice hand engraver is responsible for developing their skills and craftsmanship to achieve Tiffany & Co. hand engraving quality and productivity standards. The apprentice works closely with a master engraver, staff engravers and management to learn the techniques of hand engraving including: workshop set-up and safety; tools and equipment; layout; cuts and shading; and engraving letters, numbers and simple symbols and images. The apprentice is expected to achieve milestones appropriate to their training and experience throughout the program and to develop into a Tiffany & Co. staff engraver. Responsibilities Learn the techniques of hand engraving by working with a master engraver. The master engraver uses explanation, demonstration and assessment to deliver information to the apprentice. The apprentice is responsible for seeking clarification when necessary, practicing techniques and incorporating feedback into their work. Actively participate in milestone meetings with the master engraver and management. The apprentice receives and provides feedback on the program and their progress within it, working to identify and remove obstacles to success. Work safely at all times. The apprentice is responsible for understanding and following all safety guidelines including, personal protective equipment, ergonomics, machine guarding and hazardous materials Required Qualifications/Primary Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Successful completion of a manual dexterity assessment Successful completion of a penmanship assessment Preferred Qualifications Experience in jewelry or related crafts Experience in graphic design Experience in a metal shop (smithing, welding, cutting metals) Experience in a machine shop (drilling, milling, etc,) Responsibilities Personalize Tiffany & Co. merchandise in a timely manner while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Demonstrate consistent engraving excellence in lettering, placement, and design on multiple surfaces (flat, curved, inside work, etc.), metals (silver, gold, platinum, etc.). Perform the polishing on all hand engraved orders using the polishing machine on site. Travel to support hand engraving events to elevate the clients Tiffany experience by engaging with the client and providing creative custom hand drawn sketches and accommodating unique servicing requests. Adapt easily to new responsibilities including the capacity to work independently or in a group environment allowing for the flexing to other areas providing the necessary support. Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to the assistant manager on site LI-AG1 Qualifications Required Qualifications: Mastery of all Tiffany & Co. lettering and monogram styles. Maintain satisfactory work pace while upholding quality standards on a diverse range of product. Possess the skills to perform polishing of Tiffany items using company provided equipment. Ability to work consistently in an independent manner and collaboratively in certain situations. Must possess capability to devise layouts and sketches. This position requires flexibility to work with clients, perform presentations, and engraves while being filmed, photographed or talking with and by clients High School Diploma/Equivalent.
