We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced practitioner to work alongside the Named Professional to contribute to the implementation of the Trust’s Safeguarding Children Strategy.
Main duties of the job
1. Design and deliver safeguarding training.
2. Provide expert advice and support.
3. Provide high quality safeguarding supervision.
4. Contribute to Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and other reviews.
5. Contribute to Bedfordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership Sub–groups.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Work with Trust staff to promote best practice, identify risk factors and initiate appropriate action to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk of or suffering from abuse or neglect.
2. Support practitioners to embed ‘Think Family’ across the Trust.
3. Provide safeguarding children supervision to practitioners within the children’s workforce.
4. Provide expert advice support and guidance to all staff within CCS Bedfordshire in relation to safeguarding children.
5. Support staff to take appropriate action when children and young people are identified as being at risk or suffering from maltreatment.
6. Contribute to the development, delivery and facilitation of the Safeguarding Training Plan.
7. Participate in complex case management and case reviews.
8. Assist the Named Professional to identify areas of improvement through quality assurance and audit.
9. Support Trust staff in their responsibilities regarding child protection documentation and record keeping.
10. Assist the Named Professional and Head of Safeguarding to ensure that safeguarding systems, policies and procedures are regularly monitored, evaluated and developed.
11. Support the Named Professional in preparation for and contribute to statutory external reviews.
12. Ensure appropriate action is taken when clinical risks are identified.
13. Travel as an independent practitioner across Bedfordshire.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/Health Visitor and/or Specialist Degree in Community or Public Health / Midwife/ Registered with Social Work England.
* Evidence of professional development.
* Degree or equivalent.
* Teaching qualification.
* Evidence of Masters level study or equivalent or recent demonstrable commitment to embark on further education.
Experience
* Knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies, guidelines, and key recommendations.
* Demonstrates knowledge relevant to patterns of abuse and neglect.
* Demonstrates an understanding of the remit and role of community-based practitioners.
* Experience of working with vulnerable families and initiating safeguarding procedures.
* Experience of working with complex systems.
* Understands the assessment of need and harm.
* Experience of providing supervision and mentoring.
* Experience of working in the safeguarding field.
* Knowledge of models of supervision.
Skills
* An ability to write, interpret and communicate complex information.
* Ability to analyse issues and think critically.
* Specialist knowledge of safeguarding legislation.
* Specialist knowledge of children’s and/or adults health and development.
* Supervision skills both individual and group facilitation skills.
