A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Facility Services and HSSC senior leadership team at Pinewood Studios. Reporting to the Facility Services and HSSC Director, the Head of Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance (HSFC) leads a team of subject matter experts, aligning their capabilities to the strategic priorities of the organisation in relation to health and safety, fire, security and compliance.
The role acts as a direct line manager of six individuals across Pinewood and Shepperton Studios and leads a highly performing team of eleven in total.
The ideal candidate would have a background working in within a fast-paced, customer facing and dynamic organisation within the facility / estate management or construction sectors. A robust knowledge of current legislative matters and industry best practice is critical, as well as strong communication skills that can be adapted to suit internal and external stakeholders. Interaction with the Board of Directors, senior managers, clients and productions, external agencies and local authorities adds complexity and challenge within the stakeholder network of the role.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead at a strategic level on Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance matters across the Group, through liaison and coordination between internal departments and external stakeholders and ensure the Studio’s operations are aligned with the overall Company’s corporate strategy.
* Undertake horizon scanning regularly to evaluate the impact of legislative change or industry trends on the Pinewood Group management systems.
* Create, develop and review the Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance strategies, policies, and procedures. Provide effective management, use of resources, provision of monthly and annual evaluation reports and inspire an environment of continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Fire & Compliance protection and statutory legislative requirements, through workplace inspection, internal auditing, interpretation of legislation and the incorporation of adequate protocols and procedures.
* Work closely with the Insurance and Risk Advisor on insurance risk improvement items and annual insurance site surveys.
* Monitor and analyse accident / incident and near-miss trends to identify, develop and promote accident prevention strategies for all staff, contractors and clients. Promote the use of the company reporting platform.
* Provide technical and professional expertise and advice relating to maintenance and compliance of the Company’s current and future portfolio, particularly in relation to the management of asbestos, water hygiene and fire safety. Provide guidance on appropriate funding and strategies and create and track budgets to maintain a safe working environment.
* Establish and maintain a network with other external agencies, such as Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Joint Advisory Committee for Entertainment (JACE) and local authorities to identify good practice and improve the Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Compliance management systems across the Group.
* Implement HSFC checks and compliance tasks onto the company’s CAFM (Loc8) system in effective works management, record keeping and quality and compliance auditing. Review regularly and drive performance through reporting.
* Oversee the procurement and contract management of utilities and specialist service providers to the Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance team. Communicate with the Board, Legal and Procurement teams on contracts and subsequent approvals in line with departmental budgets.
Skills and experience
* NEBOSH or NVQ Level 6 Diploma or equivalent relevant qualification.
* CMIOSH membership (or working towards) and dedication to ongoing CPD.
* Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline e.g. Engineering, Real Estate Management etc or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated management and leadership experience.
* Proven experience of managing Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance matters in Real Estate / Construction or a relevant industry.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management and attention to detail.
* Pragmatic and sensible approach to safety management and controls.
* Strong decision making and influencing skills.
* Ability to work autonomously with a self-starter attitude.
* Strong candidates would have experience operating in large throughput tenant/public environments e.g. airports, universities, hospitals etc.
* Experience in implemented ISO45001 standard.

* Role location: This role is evenly split between Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios each week, with the option to work one day per week from home.
