RED Scientific, a company specialising in the provision of digital engineering solutions, data analysis, R&D, and technical consultancy for the government and industry, is looking to recruit an experienced programme and project manager. This individual will also act as the commercial lead at RED.
They will be part of the RED Leadership team, taking responsibility for programmes and projects across both the Public and Private sectors. The role involves working with clients and suppliers to ensure all contracts are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards, while also driving business growth by focusing on securing follow-on work and expanding our potential client base.
This post requires an experienced, commercially skilled project manager who is comfortable reviewing contract terms & conditions and negotiating at a senior level with clients. The ideal candidate will be a diligent strategic thinker with a 'hands-on' approach and the ability to focus on detail, where their contribution and accountability will be highly visible to the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership and management of a variety of programmes and projects;
* Manage risks, budgets, resource allocation, and project changes, ensuring all RED business management systems are regularly updated;
* Develop integrated project plans, resource requirements, and risk registers;
* Direct activities of project staff and manage all communications with colleagues and clients;
* Provide general commercial management support across all areas of the business;
* Key account handling and negotiation;
* Support staff communication and development.
Required Skills and Capabilities:
* Experience in successfully bidding and delivering contracts for clients, with a strong grounding in Defence-related business;
* Proven experience of managing multiple projects and programmes;
* Strong project leadership with the ability to identify and manage risk;
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills;
* Strong understanding of contractual terms & conditions, including the application of DEFCONS and managing IP;
* Good people management skills;
* Understanding of Business Process systems to drive sales, projects, and measure performance;
* Excellent attention to detail, written English, and quantitative skills;
* Ability to deal with complexity and demanding deadlines;
* Proven management experience at senior levels, including key account development and broad operational responsibility;
* Exceptional leadership skills and a robust personality to support business growth;
* Ability to inspire teams and develop potential;
* Proven management experience in a Digital Engineering & Technology environment;
* Qualified to degree level or higher in a relevant engineering or science-related discipline and APM or PRINCE2;
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer Difference and a Member of a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute or equivalent body;
