What you can expect to be doing: This diverse and exciting role includes providing specialist technical advice, coordinating activity with third parties to deliver a range of projects and/or services including: securing Section 38 and 278 highway improvements securing APCs technical reviews and inspections developing innovative, practical transport initiatives to deliver transport infrastructure to support sustainable economic development, housing growth, new local and neighbourhood plans you will also play a key part in working with a range of partners and organisations to support sustainable travel and create safe, healthy and people friendly places. Apprentice options Level 4 - HNC at Exter College or Level 6 - BEng at University of Portsmouth, both day release. Study and course assessments in own time. About you: You will be educated to at least HNC/HND standard in civil engineering or a related subject and have current knowledge of design and construction standards, procedures and techniques. Those interested in the apprentice option will need to demonstrate a keen interest in the field and a commitment to the education aspect of the role. Professional Membership of a relevant body is desirable and will demonstrate your commitment to continuous professional development and that you have gained significant post qualification experience within this field. This is a career graded role so we would be willing to appoint at either grade, 9, 10 or 11, as long as the person specification criteria are met, (please see the attached job description and person specification) Further Information We have multiple positions available working full time at 37 hours, flexible working is also considered. Location, combined with home-working (County Hall, Dorchester, DT11XJ) Option for Apprentices (G8 £27,711 - £31,586) to progress to permanent post on successful completion of qualification. Travel Requirement This position has a travel requirement. This means that there is a requirement to have access to a vehicle or have suitable access to other forms of transport such as public transport (where appropriate), car sharing or use of pool cars. Other information The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
