We are expanding our flexible workforce in Theatres and seeking registered Theatre Practitioners who can support our team by working flexibly to meet the needs of our service. We have opportunities across all perioperative disciplines and are particularly interested in hearing from Practitioners who are multi-skilled across the perioperative setting.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a NMC / HCPC registered practitioner or nurse who will assess, plan, implement and evaluate high quality, safe and compassionate care for patients in the perioperative setting. This care will be facilitated utilising evidence based perioperative standards, trust policies as well as local and national guidelines (e.g. NICE).
The post holder will be expected to work with the perioperative multidisciplinary team (including Anaesthetists and Surgeons) to provide effective care within the Anaesthetics, Scrub and Post Anaesthetic care disciplines, in line with scope of practice and departmental need.
The post holder will support the Theatre Leadership Team to ensure standards of practice and care quality are upheld; this includes acting as a role model, supporting the learning of others and contributing to the development and implementation of improvement ideas.
Job responsibilities
* Assess, plan, and implement high quality, safe, compassionate and effective perioperative care for patients, in line with scope of practice.
* Ensure risk management/safety strategies, Trust policies and departmental procedures are adhered to in the delivery of patient care.
* Demonstrate a sound theoretical understanding and practical application of evidence-based, perioperative care standards in line with national recommendations and clinical guidance (e.g., NICE, AfPP).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* First level registered nurse or registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Current registration with either NMC or HCPC
* Accredited post registration qualification in Anaesthetics or Post Anaesthetic Care (as appropriate to role)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Intermediate Life Support / Paediatric Intermediate Life Support (Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic Care roles)
* Completion of a validated, university accredited, Surgical First Assistant programme of study to support extended scope of practice
Experience
* Experience in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, using an evidence-based approach
* Experience of understanding and implementing (adhering to) Trust policies, departmental procedures and local/national guidelines
* Experience of working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of all service users.
* Experience of undertaking/recording CPD activities commensurate to the role, including keeping relevant logs to support annual appraisal/validation of extended role competencies
* Experience across a broad range of specialities in 1 or more perioperative discipline (Anaesthetics, Scrub and Post Anaesthetic Care)
* Evidence of supervising junior staff and leading clinical teams
* Evidence of supporting colleagues/mentoring learners/facilitating learning within the perioperative environment
* Evidence of post registration CPD and recent experience as a Surgical First Assistant/ability to demonstrate specialist knowledge/competence to undertake Surgical First Assistant role
Skills
* Willingness to develop skills in the perioperative setting
* Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly where there are barriers to understanding
* Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant local and national guidance/standards.
* Theoretical knowledge/understanding of the Surgical First Assistant role and scope of practice

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year per annum pro rata
