Overview
Responsible to the Group Head of Proposals, this role will be a mix of Bid Management and Bid Authoring. The role holder will provide Bid Management and Bid authoring activities across all Shepley Group tendering and any supporting marketing requirements.
Responsibilities include the following:
Bid Management
* Lead and manage the entire bid process, from initial opportunity assessment to proposal submission.
* Develop and implement bid strategies, ensuring alignment with the client’s needs, company objectives, and competitive landscape.
* Create detailed bid plans, timelines, and allocate/engage resources effectively to ensure smooth bid execution.
* Monitor progress and proactively address any issues or risks to ensure deadlines are met.
* Management and production of governance documentation
Proposal Development:
* Work closely with internal teams (Bid Coordinator, SHEQ, technical, commercial, finance, etc.) to gather relevant information and create compliant and compelling proposals.
* Prepare, author and edit content for bid submissions, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with client requirements.
* Management of the question review process inline with SEL procedures
* Develop pricing strategies in collaboration with the SLT and ensure accurate cost estimations.
* Adherence to tender deadlines
Client Engagement & Relationship Management:
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the bid process, ensuring clear and timely communication.
* Attend meetings and presentations with clients to discuss proposal details and answer any questions.
* Identify key client requirements and ensure the proposal effectively addresses them.
Post-Bid Evaluation & Reporting:
* Lead post-bid review meetings to evaluate successes and areas for improvement in future bids.
* Maintain accurate records of bid activities, submissions, and outcomes.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in bid management, proposal writing and estimating (not essential)
* Strong knowledge of bid processes, including tendering, proposal development, and pricing.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Acrobat DC and Viso. Primavera & Adobe In-design skills beneficial
