Band 6 - Senior Theatre Practitioner, Scrub, HWE Surgical Centre
West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Do you want to be part of a team working in brand new, purpose-built theatres providing planned surgery for patients across Hertfordshire and west Essex?
We are looking NOW for talented staff to form the core team that will be the beating heart of the Hertfordshire and West Essex Surgical Centre being built at St Albans City Hospital and set to open in Spring 2025.
More than 4,000 patients will be seen at the hub each year for non-complex orthopaedic, hip and knee surgery as well as ear, nose and throat procedures and spinal injections. Being separated from emergency services will reduce the risk of short-notice cancellations.
This is a fabulous opportunity to play a key role in a flagship collaborative project between the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board.
The Surgical Centre will focus on Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) standards and will be a highly efficient facility, achieving 85% theatre utilisation and operating sessions over an extended 10-hour day, four days a week, with shorter, 8-hour operating sessions taking place on Friday and Saturdays.
Interviews will be taking place week commencing 14th October.
Main duties of the job

2. Be responsible for the efficient communication of changes within the surgical centre operating department to all members of the multidisciplinary theatre team.
3. Undertake the safe and efficient transfer of patients to other hospitals.
4. Prior orthopaedic experience is essential for this role.
