Nano Fibre UK are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor for the company to help support us as we scale in the Fibre Broadband industry. We are a fast growing company who is committed to offering the best customer service by our Fibre Broadband Engineers here in the UK. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven individual to help and support us minimise risk and ensure compliance.
This role is flexibly located, with a mixture of field and office work.
In this role you will be reporting to the Head of SHEQ, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health and safety within Nano Fibre UK on a day to day basis in the areas delegated by Head of SHEQ.
You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards. This role involves implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing safety training, and promoting a culture of safety among employees and contractors.
Responsibilities
Policy development and implementation:
* Develop, review, and update health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with UK regulations and industry best practices.
* Implement policies across all levels and ensure adherence by all employees and contractors.
Risk assessment and management:
* Conduct regular risk assessments of the workplace activities, identifying potential hazards, and implementing controls to mitigate risks.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control measures and adjust as necessary.
Safety training and education:
* Develop and deliver health and safety training programmes for employees and new starters, covering topics such as manual handling, working at heights, and hazard recognition.
* Ensure all staff members are adequately trained to perform their duties safely and responsibly.
Incident investigation and reporting:
* Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
* Prepare and maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and produce reports for management as required.
Regulatory compliance:
* Keep abreast of relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards, ensuring the company's practices remain compliant.
* Participate in audits and inspections as necessary.
Safety culture promotion:
* Promote a positive safety culture within Nano, encouraging active participation and ownership of safety responsibilities at all levels
* Engage with employees and management to raise awareness of safety issues and foster a proactive approach to risk management.
General:
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Ensure quality standards are adhered to.
* Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities assigned by management from time-to-time.
Requirements
* A recognised qualification in health and safety (preferred – i.e. TechIosh, CMIOSH).
* Professional certifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent or higher (required).
* Proven experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the construction of telecommunication industry.
* In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective control measures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficient in conducting safety training sessions and delivering presentations.
* An approachable, flexible and pro-active individual who all employees feel they can approach for assistance in any safety matter.
* Confidence in speaking with people and delivering training to groups.
* Ability to work independently on a project.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Willingness to undertake further training and study as required
* A full UK driving licence and own transport.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality on all matters.
