Band 7 renal and diabetes dietitian, 1.00 WTE fixed term, 12 months
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated dietitian to join our friendly team working at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
This role offers a unique opportunity to specialize in both renal and antenatal diabetes care, providing comprehensive nutritional support to our patients.
Previous experience in renal dietetics is highly desirable for this post.
Your learning needs are very important to us, and we are able to support you with any additional training that you require.
Main duties of the job
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will take the lead and demonstrate an advanced level of expertise. You will play a key role in the nutritional management of these patient groups and will provide advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and other health professionals.
In addition, you will actively be involved in the trust's clinical governance programme and quality framework agenda by taking lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit, and research activities within this specialist area.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Candidate Information Pack:
Working as part of the dietetic team and as an integrated member of the renal and diabetes MDT, the postholder will:
* Play a key role in the nutritional management of people living with chronic kidney disease by providing highly specialist advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and other health professionals. This will involve advanced kidney care clinics and the nutritional management of people receiving all forms of dialysis.
* Work within the joint Diabetes-Obstetrics MDT to support people with Gestational Diabetes.
* Provide training to student dietitians and supervise their clinical placements.
* Undertake relevant audit to further best practice.
* Provide cover for dietitians during periods of leave. This may include covering the renal ward when required and cover for the gestational diabetes education session.

Person specification
Qualification & Registration
* Registered Dietitian with HCPC.
* Registered with the BDA.
Experience
* Clinical dietetic experience in a range of specialities.
* Experience working within the MDT.
* Evidence of audit or service development.
* Experience in supervision or training of students or junior staff.
Clinical Experience
* Clinical dietetic experience including nutrition support (with management of enteral feeds and use of oral nutritional supplements).
* Experience in the nutritional management of people with chronic kidney disease.
* Experience of the management of gestational diabetes.
Teaching/training
* Experience of delivering education to staff.
* Experience of delivering education to patients.
* Experience of teaching/training at the undergraduate level.
