We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Assistant Hall Manager to complement our existing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, creative and talented catering supervisor to develop their skills and engage in a wide range of events and functions regularly held at the facility.
Salary: £27,300 - £32,300 per annum (depending on experience).
Hours: This is a permanent, full-time post of 40 hours per week comprising mainly working straight shifts.
Holidays: 33 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays.
Summary: The College’s Catering Department is responsible for providing a comprehensive catering service to a community – working and living in the College, along with conference guests and overnight stays. Service includes formal dining arrangements and a cafeteria provision, as well as high end functions, feasts, weddings and occasional outside catering. The College employs two Assistant Hall Managers, who are responsible for assisting the Hall Manager in the professional delivery of a full catering service at the College.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervision of ‘front of house’ services and staff in the following areas, including ensuring the areas are kept clean and tidy:
• Reporting any defects in furniture and fittings and ensuring they are repaired.
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and food hygiene in all areas including the maintenance of HACCP, risk assessments and COSHH.
• Planning and organisation of cost-effective casual staff rotas.
• Inducting, training and coaching staff including direction on College service etiquette.
• Maintaining and managing ‘front of house equipment’ including cutlery, crockery and table linen.
• Operation and control of bars for College and conference events.
• Assisting the Steward and Senior Fellow in the maintenance of Hall discipline at Formal events by dealing appropriately with unruly students.
• Any additional tasks as directed by the Head of Hospitality.
