Early Days in Custody Practitioner
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Early Days in Custody (EDiC) Practitioner to join our team at HMP Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health nurse to make a positive impact in the early stages of custody. The successful candidate will work closely with the EDiC team to provide high-quality care and support to individuals in their formative days within the prison environment.
The ideal candidate will be a registered mental health nurse with a strong background in working with vulnerable populations, particularly those with complex needs. They will possess excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport with colleagues and service users alike, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
* To provide holistic assessments and interventions to individuals in the early stages of custody, addressing their physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
* To work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, educators, and social workers, to develop and implement effective care plans.
* To engage with service users, listening to their concerns and aspirations, and providing guidance and support to promote their overall well-being.
* To maintain accurate records and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that reflect best practice in the field.
Requirements
* Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification.
* Experience working in a custodial or forensic setting, with a focus on early intervention and prevention.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this role is £39,338-£46,962 per annum, dependent on experience, offering a competitive package that reflects the importance of this position.
