What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to work in our highly valued Learning Support Department. This is an extremely varied role assisting those students with Special Educational Needs. Under the guidance of the Head of Learning Support, and the Classroom Teachers, you will be providing support for children with a variety of educational needs, enabling all of our students to thrive, both within, and outside of, the classroom.
Work will vary, enabling access to the curriculum within the classroom to students with SEND. Liaising with class teachers to support the management of pupil behaviour in lessons will also be of paramount importance.
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, facilitating learning through excellent teaching and support, and promoting a whole-child approach in terms of social and emotional development. You will be involved in supporting individuals in classroom activities, on educational visits, and with IT, using specialist learning aids and physical equipment as appropriate.
Working with the Head of Learning Support and the Teaching Staff, you will contribute to annual review meetings, and liaise with relevant agencies and parents in a mutually beneficial and professional manner. You will use your initiative, responding to situations as they arise, using your skills and experience to bring the very best out of our students with special educational needs.
