Job Overview:
As a Mechanical Compliance Engineer at ABM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of mechanical installations within our client's vast manufacturing facility. Your work will contribute to the safety and security of the facility, helping to protect both employees and assets in the event of an emergency. You must have good written and oral communication skills and have a high level of technical knowledge across the mechanical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure statutory compliance to all relevant British and European Standards, regulations, legislation, Codes of Practice, etc., as well as client standards and specifications surrounding mechanical safety.
2. Co-ordinate and control activities associated with mechanical systems to ensure production facilities for designated sites are maintained to their optimum availability and reliability within the current Health & Safety, Environmental and statutory legislation.
3. Develop, implement and maintain adequate maintenance schedules, monitoring the work of employees and sub-contractors to ensure output, quality, costs, and customer service satisfaction targets & standards are achieved.
4. Oversee and audit mechanical work within commercial and industrial buildings, including small project works, upgrades, minor works, repairs, and fault finding, ensuring compliance with appropriate legislation.
5. Liaise with other staff and sub-contractors as necessary to ensure timely completion of works within agreed operational targets.
6. Assist with larger multi-disciplinary projects from concept to completion, involving site surveys, meetings with contractors and clients, requesting work to be quoted, reviewing and auditing completed work.
7. Facilitate client insurance inspections and ensure correct procedures are adhered to.
8. Supervise all required nominated person PPMs, compile associated reports, and generate action plans to close out any remedial works.
9. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure client compliance with relevant statutory regulations.
10. Participate in reviewing technical projects/modification documents/O&M Manuals and raise concerns as appropriate.
11. Review and update relevant sections within the client risk register.
12. Participate in the programme for updating client site service drawings.
13. Review and update mechanical sections within the client building condition reports.
14. Observe and comply with ABM and client’s health and safety policies and procedures.
15. Produce reports on performance and discuss with the client in monthly team meetings.
16. Establish opportunities for energy savings and assist in requests.
17. Develop and maintain asset lists and maintenance records on the clients CAFM system.
18. Attend training programmes as requested.
19. Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards.
20. Identify hazards or improvements on-site and report to the facilities helpdesk.
21. Evaluate potential methods of carrying out engineering tasks and select the most appropriate solution.
22. Take a results-orientated approach to ensure results are analyzed/trended and understood; and remedial actions are delivered.
23. Support customer initiatives that could lead to longer-term benefits for both the customer and ABM.
24. Provide mechanical shift operation support.
25. Perform any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested by a member of the Management Team.
Experience & Skills:
1. Level 4 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
2. NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
3. Experienced and skilled with mechanical steam installations.
4. Proficient in the use of CAFM Systems.
5. Understanding of engineering compliance principles and knowledge of HASAW, PSSR, LOLER, PUWER and CoSHH.
6. In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, regulations, and safety standards.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols.
9. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
10. Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with other departments.
11. Clean UK Driving Licence.
