An exciting opportunity has come up for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in an excellent special needs school near Bristol City Centre.
The school has excellent facilities for all types of SEND needs including; Autism, Downs Syndrome, Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities. Many of the children have high needs so the right person will be patient and have a caring nature. Some of the children at the school are nonverbal. Some children need assistance with toileting, so you will need to be ok with personal care.
The person chosen for this role will need to be competent in responding to the individual needs of SEND children and not phased by medical needs, personal care and challenging behaviour. You will be compassionate and committed to learning about SEND.

Responsibilities and duties:
· Supporting 1:1 in class or in small groups.
· Make learning fun and enjoyable
· Be a support to the pupils when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed
· Build a strong relationship with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their potential
Essential Criteria:
· Be empathetic, kind and patient
· Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
· Two recent child/vulnerable adult-based references, covering the last 2 years
· A relevant DBS/Police checks
· Access to bicycle, car or near main bus routes
· Able to work 8.30-3.30, consistently 2 to 5 days per week, term time only

The day is 7 hours with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Your daily rate of pay would be £85.00* but with the potential to earn more.
*This includes holiday pay.
