The post holder assists the Social, Therapy, Assessment and Rehabilitation team (STAR) by carrying out delegated duties including advice and education on the use of walking aids and equipment, delivering prescribed exercises. The post holder will have their own case load of non-complex patients as well as assist the qualified therapists with joint therapy sessions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assess and treat their own delegated workload of patients and maintain associated patient records utilising knowledge and skills gained through attainment of competencies, experience. They will be responsible for documenting the treatment session in the medical notes.
They are required to carry out clinical tasks (such as instruction / supervision and delivery of prescribed individual and group exercise programmes), requiring an excellent level of interpersonal skills.
They are required to carry out administration tasks such as managing the delivery of walking aids and small pieces of ADL equipment.
The post holder works alongside senior physiotherapists to facilitate safe and effective rehabilitation programmes, to educate and encourage patients to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
The post holder contributes to 7 day working across the Trust.

Qualifications and Training
* Literate

* NVQ 3
* Recognised qualification in an area related to post or equivalent life skill.

Experience
* One year therapy experience
* Experience of assessing patients for disability equipment and instructing them in their proper and safe usage
* Experience working in a team
* Previous experience of data inputting
* Work in voluntary sector or community services available for those faced with disability
* Knowledge of MDT and therapists role within MDT
* Work with patients on a group basis
* Experience of administrative work e.g. photocopying, filing
