Advanced Social Worker - Child Protection and Child in Need Team
We are on our way to achieving our goal to provide Outstanding support and care to children, families, carers, and practitioners across Salford. We are investing in the right social workers to get us there across our teams from newly qualified social workers to team managers including those who are looking to relocate to the area.
We have a vacancy for an Advanced Social Worker to join us in our Child Protection and Child in Need service for a period of 12 months.
Our Child Protection and Child in Need service is made up of 5 teams, each with their own Practice Manager, two Advanced Social Workers, and seven Social Workers. There are opportunities to work with our cared-for children, within care proceedings and pre-proceedings alongside managing the plans of children at CIN and CP threshold to support them, in partnership with families, to achieve better outcomes.
Workers in this department seize the opportunity to support families to make progress so risks are reduced for children and young people.
Your role will include:
1. Effectively manage a limited caseload of complex cases in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
2. Undertaking a variety of assessment types depending on the needs of the family.
3. Building effective relationships with children, young people, and their families enabling full participation in assessment, planning, review, and decision making.
4. Effectively manage safeguarding risk including child protection, working within a multi-agency environment, providing a professional social work service.
5. Offering formal, informal, and reflective supervision to qualified social work staff, ASYEs, and trainees and contribute to the development of the wider workforce.
6. Supporting the Practice Manager with the development and performance of the team.
7. Chairing Strategy Meetings and providing case direction when appropriate.
8. Leading by example and delivering best practice.
