Experiencing some of Britain and Irelands most stunning coastlines, you will be part of the Wales and West & Isle of Man Regional Technical team traveling and maintaining equipment predominantly around South and West Wales (Cardiff to Borth) based out of one of our primary maintenance locations in either Swansea or Haverfordwest. Your skill and experience will be used to work on our proven and cutting-edge lifesaving assets and equipment at our Lifeboat stations, Lifeguard support centres- and Contractor facilities. About the job We are looking for a Regional Technician to join our existing team and we’ll look to you to make your mark and really get stuck in. Whether you’re carrying out modifications, scheduled planned maintenance, rectifying emergency breakdowns, overseeing contractors or carrying out stock control, you’ll ensure our Lifesaving craft, plant and machinery performs as well as our teams, so we never let anyone down and you’ll enjoy the unique satisfaction of doing something truly life changing. About you In addition to working on our inshore & all-weather Lifeboats, along with their launch and recovery plant, you will find yourself involved with maintaining our Lifeguard equipment, ranging from Jet ski, Quads, 4x4’s, also various launching equipment. This means with our unique and wide verity of equipment you could utilise your knowledge and skills and join us from industries such as agricultural, commercial, plant, military or motor vehicle background. Our ask is that you have the following qualifications and background, A Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds BTEC or NVQ level 3 or above qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline. Broad electrical and electronic knowledge. (12/24v DC, can bus and control systems) Knowledge and experience of diagnosis, repair and maintenance of internal combustion engines, gearboxes and drive systems. Experience and able to demonstrate the use of diagnostic systems such as Snap on, Caterpillar, Scania, Yamaha, and Ford. Proven ability to use your initiative and operate independently. Meticulous attention to detail. A good level of physical fitness is preferable as you may spend some of your time at sea. A time-served apprenticeship in a marine or vehicle-based setting (ideal but not vital). IOSH Working Safely, Working at Height, PASMA and PA testing certification (again useful but by no means crucial). Finally, it’s essential that you have a full driving licence. A BE licence for towing and a forklift licence would be very useful, but we will provide comprehensive training if necessary.
