Have the ability to work in a fast paced busy kitchen environment, especially during the height of the season, have the ability to work well as part of a team and possess strong communication skills. Reporting to Head Chef Overview The Tongadale Hotel is a 25 bedroom hotel offering comfortable accommodation. The hotel also has a bar and a restaurant seating 52 covers. The hotel has a long tradition in island hospitality having been owned and operated by the same family for over 70 years. Key Responsibilities Assisting in food preparation activities. Cooking dishes and plating up dishes. Ensuring daily knowledge of dishes to be served, together with the appropriate garnish, portions and prices. Maintaining the menu boards. Organising and correctly storing food supplies. Assisting with the washing up in the scullery and kitchen. Ensuring a clean and safe working environment at all times by following all relevant health and safety procedures and ensuring all HACCP paperwork is completed. Following COSHH regulations at all times. Carry out deep clean as directed by management. Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on company and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards. Washing, disinfecting and properly storing cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment. Operating a variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including knives, grills, mixers and ovens. Ordering stock in the absence of the Head Chef.
