Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, experienced and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational SEND Schools in Houghton-le-Spring on a full-time basis. About the School: The role is based in an inspirational SEND School setting in Houghton-le-Spring. The School supports pupils across the Primary School age range (2-11) and there are opportunities to support pupils across all years groups depending on your preference and specialism. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils. Pay, Hours and Contract: Pay - Between £90-110 per day DOE Hours - 08.30-16.00 Contract - Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract. Start Date - ASAP Location - Houghton-le-Spring About the HLTA Role: The role will involve supporting pupils working at EYFS/KS1 level who have a wide range of SEND and challenging behaviour. The role will also involve some planning and delivery of learning activities to pupils in small groups. The role will involve supporting pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The different types of SEND that pupils have may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, SLD, MLD and PMLD. Some pupils may require personal care and some pupils may be none-verbal or pre-verbal. A key part of the role will be to build a rapport and a positive relationships with pupils to help them to engage with their learning and make progress both academically and as young people. A key part of the role will also be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this. Experience/Qualifications and Requirements: A Supporting Teaching and Learning or HLTA Qualification Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK Experience within an SEND School Setting (desired) Experience of planning and delivering learning activities to small groups of pupils. An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
