This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic and passionate MCA DoLS Supervisory Body Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Team in Powys Teaching Health Board.
The MCA DoLs Supervisory Body Practitioner is an integral part of the Safeguarding Team and will work alongside other members of the Team to support the Assistant Director of Nursing for Safeguarding, in achieving best practice and enable The Health Board to fulfil its legal requirements as a Supervisory Body under MCA DoLS.
This position requires the post holder to have a sound knowledge of working under MCA and MCA DoLS and be willing to undertake the responsibilities of a BIA if required. The applicant will have substantial experience of conducting assessments within the framework of the MCA and MCA DoLS. Provide expert professional advice, education and training for PTHB.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide day to day co-ordination as PTHB Supervisory Body and authorised signatory.
2. Represent MCA DoLS and work in collaboration with Powys County Council Supervisory Body. Represent MCA DoLS internally at management meetings and externally at regional forums.
3. To be the key link with relevant Managing Authorities, clinic areas and commissioning; to pro-actively collaborate and promote best practice in the application of MCA in care and support planning and considerations of deprivation of liberty in different settings in liaison with the MCA/DoLS Senior Practitioner and the Safeguarding Hub.
4. Act as a specialist resource and offer expert knowledge on the application and compliance of MCA DoLS, including recent case law and national and local policies.

Person Specification
Professional Qualification
* Professional qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or psychology.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner, negotiate challenge, innovative and ability to problem solve and demonstrate competency in MCA.
* Understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity interface, Human Rights Act and Court of Protection.
* Experience of undertaking DoLS Supervision Body functions.
Experience
* Experience of understanding and managing budgets.
* Experience of working within areas of professional challenge.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
