About Us Get Further are an award-winning charity that supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop the skills they need to progress onto higher-level courses, apprenticeships, and into the workplace. We deliver tailored tuition for GCSE and Functional Skills, offering valuable extra support to help students secure gateway qualifications. About the Role As a Maths and/or English Tutor, you will work closely with students who may face barriers to learning, helping them build confidence and achieve key qualifications. The focus of your role will be on delivering small-group sessions (1-3 students) using a fully-resourced curriculum designed by expert teachers. This is an excellent opportunity for those who are passionate about education and want to gain valuable experience working with students who may need extra support in building relationships and trust, particularly within a more challenging cohort. The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK. Key Responsibilities Deliver in-person 1-1.5 hour sessions at Weston College, supporting students to develop skills and pass gateway qualifications in Functional Skills Maths or English. Support learners from harder-to-reach backgrounds, making a direct impact on their educational journey and life chances. What We Offer 2 full days of paid training delivered by subject specialists. Core Requirements Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people. Minimum C grade in GCSE English and maths (or equivalent). A-level/equivalent qualification at grade B or above in a relevant subject. Either have a minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate/postgraduate degree or be working towards one. Additional Requirements Able to attend two full days of tutor training. Ability to commit to at least 2 hours of tuition per week for a minimum of 15 weeks (a 3-month notice period is required if no longer available for tuition). Ability to travel to Weston College for in-person tuition. Employment subject to DBS check, Right to Work check, social media check, and two suitable references. A police check, or police letter of good conduct, may be required for applicants who have lived overseas for more than 3 months in the last 5 years.
