Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the classroom. Your primary responsibilities will include: Assisting teachers in delivering tailored educational programs to meet the individual needs of students with SEN. Providing one-on-one support to students during lessons and assisting them with their learning activities. Helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence. Collaborating with teaching staff and other professionals to develop effective strategies for supporting students’ learning and development. Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers regarding individual achievements and areas for improvement. Supporting students during breaks and transitions between classes to ensure their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Support Learning Activities: Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the specific needs of SEN students. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies as directed by teaching staff to promote positive behaviour among students. Communication Skills: Foster open communication with students, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to education. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reports as required by the teaching team. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by Teaching Personnel or the school. Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable. A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
