Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department Team at North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to appoint a Specialty Doctor to complement our team and work in our Emergency Department. Our Middle Grades are also the first group in MFT to be able to self roster on the Health Roster system.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be clinically and educationally responsible to the Consultants in Emergency Medicine. The clinical duties will comprise:
1. Active participation in the reception, initial diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of patients attending the Emergency Department.
2. Where appropriate, refer patients to:
o their general practitioner
o the appropriate specialist team for continuation of hospital care
o a clinic held within the Emergency Department
o a clinic held within the hospital
3. Provide support and supervision for those at SHO, FY2, and FY1 grades within the Emergency Department.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Primary medical qualification (e.g. MBChB, ALS, ATLS, APLS).
* Full registration with the GMC with a Licence to practice.
Experience
* Completion of at least 4 years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent) at least 2 of which must be in the specialty training programme in emergency medicine.
Skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Organisational and leadership skills.
* Clinical governance understanding.
Knowledge
* Broad knowledge of emergency medicine and paediatric medicine.
* Health assessment required.
* Prepared to reside within 30 minutes or 10 miles of the Trust Hospitals.
* Appropriate Home Office status to undertake a career post in the UK.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
