Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our operational team and projects. This role reports directly to the Managing Director and requires a hands-on approach to site management, logistics, and business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Oversee daily business operations, including site management, logistics, and yard operations.
Support senior management teams in planning and supervising projects.
Ensure project plans align with company schedules, managing any necessary adjustments.
Make key decisions on-site regarding labour, materials, and operational challenges.
Work with Contract Managers to coordinate workforce movements across multiple sites.
Maintain control of company materials at client sites, ensuring proper storage or returns.
Manage transport logistics, including lorries, drivers, and scaffolding teams.
Represent the company in site meetings, collaborating with major contractors and subcontractors.
Health & Safety Compliance
Ensure all scaffolding operations adhere to Health & Safety regulations.
Work with scaffolding inspectors to maintain compliance.
Oversee incident reporting, ensuring full documentation and communication.
Ensure adherence to method statements and risk assessments.
Yard & Fleet Management
Establish and oversee effective systems for yard operations and equipment maintenance.
Work with the Commercial Manager and Finance Manager to optimise fleet and operational efficiency.
Business Development & Client Relations
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in collaboration with the Managing Director.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and potential clients.
Recruitment & Training
Oversee recruitment and training of scaffolders in line with company policies.
Ensure regular toolbox talks are conducted and properly recorded.
Maintain and manage the company’s training matrix, ensuring compliance and development opportunities.
Financial & Business Management
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Support the Commercial Manager with financial reporting, cost analysis, and project reconciliations.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project managers to support financial discussions and project pricing.
Assist Contract Managers in preparing wages schedules and timesheets.
Participate in internal management meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
✅ Proven experience in the construction sector, ideally within scaffolding.
✅ Strong leadership and team management skills.
✅ Ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels.
✅ Relevant construction industry or professional qualifications.
✅ Experience working with main contractors or large subcontractors.
✅ Knowledge of operational processes for large-scale projects.
✅ Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a results-driven approach.
✅ Strong commitment to health & safety, leading by example on-site.
✅ Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
