The person will take responsibility for managing the forecasting and planning activities of the business, acting as a virtual business partner to finance and having high visibility with the board.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Leading and co-ordinating the budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, with buy-in from key stakeholders across the business.
2. Analysing and interpreting weekly and monthly performance, highlighting and understanding issues and opportunities with appropriate recommendations. Providing insight to senior management on a range of pertinent issues.
3. Working closely with other finance teams to enhance the forecasting of working capital to improve cash flow forecasting accuracy.
4. Supporting the financial reporting team in reviewing monthly results, providing commentaries and analysis to understand variances.
5. Challenging the cost base and identifying opportunities for savings and efficiencies.
6. Supporting the measurement of initiatives to assess performance against key success criteria.
7. Supporting the development of financial systems across the business where appropriate.
8. Acting as a catalyst for change and delivering process improvement across the budgeting and forecasting process.
The successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a strong technical background coupled with demonstrable commercial acumen. In addition, they will need excellent influencing and communication skills to liaise at senior level, have advanced Excel capabilities, and possess the confidence and ability to challenge behaviours and develop and deliver strategies for improvement.
