Post: Care Assistant Location: Aaron House 40 Rosneath Gardens Ballyoran, Dundonald Responsible to: The Home Manager Hours: Full and part time hours available (Days or Nights) Salary: £11.89 per hour Role: The Care Assistant will carry out a high standard of care and assist tomeet residents individual needs within a caring environment. Main Areas of Responsibility: 1. To attend to the personal needs of residents on a daily basis, with respect and dignity for the individual. 2. To carry out a high standard of care and any daily living programmes as directed by Senior Staff. 3. To treat all matters relating to the Home with strict confidentiality. 4. To maintain a safe environment by ensuring adherence to appropriate Health and Safety and Fire procedures. 5. To keep appropriate records, as directed by Senior Staff. 6. To bring any areas of concern to the attention of Senior Staff. 7. To report all accidents/incidents to senior staff and record as directed. 8. To be aware of emergency procedures. 9. To accompany residents on outings, holidays, to attend appointments. 10. To act as a named worker for designated residents, under the direction of Senior Staff. 11. To assist residents to make choices and encourage independence at all times. 12. To carry out day care programmes for those residents attending our day care unit as directed by the Day Care Worker. 13. To attend training courses and staff meetings as directed by the Manager. 14. To undertake day and night duties and assist in housekeeping tasks as required by the home. 15. Any other duties as reasonable required by the Home Manager. This job description is not definitive and may be changed according to the needs of the home ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Qualifications and Knowledge Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of people with learning and physical disabilities Awareness of health and safety practices within a working environment Willing to undertake relevant training e.g. induction training, or NVQ / QCF level 2 Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).
