The Opportunity
EPR-E was established in 2023 and oversees the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C EPR project, EPR-E provides the design for the Nuclear Island (NI).
EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.
For the HPC project, we are currently looking to recruit for the role of HVAC Layout Team Lead.

What you’ll be doing
As an HVAC Layout Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing various activities based on project requirements, your team's competencies, and your experience.
In this role, you’ll manage a team of 3 to 6 HVAC Layout Engineers, coordinating the production of deliverables and rework in accordance with the schedule, cost, and quality expectations set by the Building Manager. You will also be responsible for tracking project delivery and ensuring the Scheduling Tool (Paladin) is kept up to date. By delegating and distributing tasks within the team, you’ll organize workloads in line with each member's skills, capacity, and existing workload.
Your technical expertise will be vital in guiding the team and ensuring that all deliverables are technically accurate and meet quality standards through the appropriate review and approval processes. Part of your responsibility includes ensuring that the team follows the EPR-E Processes & Tools (UK-DC, IDT, NCR, WeCAD, etc.) where applicable.
Additionally, you’ll identify and define the requirements of the HVAC discipline scope and coordinate with other leads or external parties as appropriate (all groups/sections related to the ITB buildings – for example layout, civil, systems, contracts, hazards and JDO teams). You will also coordinate efforts with the relevant counterparts in the UK, France, and Germany. Should resource conflicts arise, you’ll raise these issues with the Building Manager or Group Lead as appropriate.
You’ll maintain close communication with the Layout Discipline Lead to support the team in terms of competency tracking and development, tools & methods, sharing knowledge and good practises, resourcing, onboarding, etc.
Who you are
You have experience in the nuclear industry, preferably on projects such as HPC or SZC. Knowledge of Layout competency and proficiency in 3D modelling using PDMS and/or E3D is essential. An understanding of engineering design sequences and interfaces is also required, alongside knowledge of general layout rules, particularly with respect to HVAC systems. The ability to manage multiple interfaces and to work efficiently to meet commitments and deadlines is crucial. Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You possess strong stakeholder engagement abilities, as well as leadership qualities, autonomy, and a proactive approach. A questioning attitude is highly encouraged, and fluency in English is essential.
You have knowledge across several areas of engineering, including piping, electrical, HVAC, equipment, layout, systems, civil engineering, and safety. Proficiency in the French language would be a plus.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 20th November 2024
Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
