As the Microbiology and Andrology Operational Manager you will work alongside the Microbiology Department Manager and in conjunction with the organisation's Pathology Directorate to develop and deliver transformational change within the Health Board. Main duties of the job You will have extensive experience in Microbiology, experience of operating at a management level to provide strong leadership and a clear vision and passion for developing the services and inspiring and leading your team. You will hold an MSc or equivalent, demonstrate a commitment to CPD, have excellent interpersonal and time management skills and be keen on exploring alternative ways to deliver Microbiology services. You will be responsible for professional leadership, strategic direction, operational and quality management, budgetary control and continuous improvement of your service. A managerial qualification is highly desirable. The department operates a 24/7 working system, including a 12 hour nightshift. The department has UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation and is also an approved IBMS training laboratory. Continuous professional development is actively encouraged. The laboratory is well equipped to a high standard with Maldi-Tof, Sysmex UF-5000 urine analysers, Roche Cobas 6800, Vidas and Cepheid molecular platforms. The post holder will be expected to manage and develop all aspects of the Microbiology services in line with the objectives of the Health Board and in compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies. The Microbiology Operational Manager will be an active member of the Pathology Operational Management Team working closely with the other Pathology leads and will be expected to represent Pathology at Health Board, Regional and National level meetings.
