Site Reliability Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Enablement team, a specialised function within Cloud Operations focused on building reusable infrastructure, automation, and tools that enable CloudOps and Engineering teams to operate more efficiently.
You will have the opportunity to be a key driver for SRE adoption within Sage, taking the helm in developing scalable frameworks to improve developer experience, remove toil and ultimately focus on embedding SRE best practices within the wider business.
If you have experience working with Terraform and modern CI/CD workflows this could be the role for you, as not only will you be providing hands-on technical expertise but you will also engage with broader teams to help implement these new approaches. You will have oversight of the entirety of Sage's product-suite and SRE teams as you work closely with them to build tools to make them more successful.

Key Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:
• Developing reusable infrastructure resources - Build Terraform modules, automation tooling, and self-service workflows to standardise best practices across teams.
• Designing and implementing modern CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Buildkite.
• Enhancing observability as code - Define dashboards, alerts, and monitoring configurations (New Relic preferred).
• Building automation tools, APIs, and internal services to reduce toil and improve developer productivity.
• Driving best practices in GitOps, infrastructure as code, and automation-first operations.
• Collaborating with CloudOps and Engineering teams to improve reliability, security, and scalability.
• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and networking issues, applying SRE principles to drive long-term improvements.
• Ensuring usability and adoption of Enable Framework resources, designing intuitive solutions that empower CloudOps engineers.
• Shaping the evolution of the Enable Framework, influencing its impact across CloudOps.
Requirements:
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) - Strong experience designing and maintaining reusable Terraform modules.
• CI/CD & Automation - Expertise in modern pipelines as code, using tools like GitHub Actions, CircleCI or Buildkite.
• Cloud Expertise (AWS or Azure) - experience with cloud-native services, networking, security.
• Containerisation & Orchestration expertise would be advantageous.
• Experience with New Relic is preferred.
• Proficient in programming and scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Bash.
• Committed to removing operational toil through automation-first approaches, optimizing workflows for scalability.
• An understanding of SRE principles - SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, reliability engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills - ability to diagnose complex infrastructure, networking, and operational challenges.
• Excellent collaboration and communication - influencing technical decisions, championing best practices.
