Job Title: Care Assistant
Location: Barry
Reporting to: Deputy Manager/ Home Manager
Hours of Work: 20 Hr on Weekly Basis
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Care Provision
1. To provide personal care and support to Residents with a wide range of needs, illnesses and disabilities.
2. To know and understand the care and support of the Resident.
3. To undertake the tasks detailed in the Resident’s care and support plan using a person centred approach and in the least intrusive way.
4. To encourage the independence and motivation of the Residents and not foster dependent behaviour.
5. To assist Residents getting up in the morning and going to bed at night.
6. To assist Residents to wash, bath and shower.
7. To assist Residents to dress and undress.
8. To assist Residents to look after their skin, teeth, hair and nails.
9. To assist Residents with toileting, continence management and personal hygiene.
10. To prepare food and drink for the Residents, being aware of the Resident's choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.
11. To use manual handling equipment safely and correctly.
12. To take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the Residents.
13. To maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships with Residents.
14. To provide companionship to the Residents, actively talking and listening to them about their interests.
15. To help the Residents to maintain contact with their family and friends.
16. To accompany the Residents on trips into the community.
17. To assist the Residents to manage their personal affairs.
18. To ensure as safe as possible the living environment for the Residents, whilst respecting the Resident’s choice and rights.
Recording and Reporting
1. To maintain detailed accurate records in respect of care and medication support given and tasks undertaken.
2. To regularly read care and support plans, acknowledging changes.
3. To protect the confidentiality of all information relating to the Residents and not divulge information to anyone who is not authorised to receive it.
4. To seek out best practice and look at innovative ways to improve the quality and efficiency of service delivery.
5. To attend and participate in regular Care Worker team meetings and any other relevant meetings.
6. To attend in house and external training pertinent to the role of Care Worker.
7. To ensure completed weekly time sheets are submitted on time.

Pay: From £11.10 per hour
