The stop smoking practitioner is responsible for supporting and facilitating the delivery of smoking cessation programmes within the Place Based Local Stop Smoking Service.
We have opportunities for a new practitioner across Kent.
Face-to-face delivery in community locations.
You will receive your own cohort of patients and face-to-face clinics to support and maintain and will help to improve the accessibility of Kent's Place Based Stop Smoking Service through the pro-active promotion of the smoking cessation programme and referral pathways to key health care providers, allied professionals, community events, local agencies, and the general public.
You will be part of both the smoking cessation team. You will also receive additional in-house training including data security, first aid, and safeguarding.

Main duties of the job
The Ideal Candidate would preferably have completed and be registered with the NCSCT as a Stop Smoking Practitioner already and have experience of working in this role.

Job responsibilities
MAIN PURPOSE
Our Stop Smoking Practitioners deliver one-to-one and group stop smoking interventions within a wide range of settings. Across Kent, our service will include work within one-to-one and group settings and also involve evening and weekend work.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly across the County as required, ensuring their skills, expertise, and knowledge are fully utilised.
This post will:
1. Provide information to smokers to enable them to make an informed choice to make an attempt to stop smoking and then to support the smoker with a formal evidence-based quit programme.
2. Develop and improve accessibility of the Kent Place Based Stop Smoking Service through the pro-active promotion of the smoking cessation programmes and referral pathways amongst primary and secondary care services, other key health care providers, allied professionals, community development initiatives, local agencies, and the general public.
3. Provide ongoing support to a caseload of referrals, supporting each quit attempt in line with national and company standards.
4. Contribute to the planning, delivery, and development of the stop smoking service including specific project work.
5. In conjunction with the Delivery team lead, plan and deliver an appropriate and accessible cessation service within the delivery team area.
6. Provide cessation support including one-to-one and group support, assessing clients' suitability for Stop Smoking treatments.
7. Adhere to service protocols and procedures in relation to the provision of supportive pharmacotherapy medication.
8. Collate accurate clinical records in line with national OHID or NCSCT requirements and inputting data into the service web-based database in a timely and professional manner.
9. Support the service in delivering key performance indicators and activity as set out within the service specification.
10. Support the delivery of promotion activity across Kent in line with the service marketing strategy.
11. Work flexibly to provide a coordinated service across the localities to meet the needs of the client group. This will include work in the evening and some work on weekends where required.
12. Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, undertake evidence-based practice and promote the use of new and innovative practice.
13. In conjunction with the delivery team lead, conduct analysis and evaluation of designated programmes in order to improve the quality of service.
14. Be responsible for identifying issues or concerns to the line manager, so that appropriate action can be taken.
15. Contribute to ongoing needs assessment, audit, and other governance programmes in relation to activities as part of the health improvement agenda.

1. In conjunction with the Delivery team lead, plan and deliver an appropriate and accessible cessation service within the delivery team area.
2. Provide cessation support including one-to-one, group, and app support.
3. Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of smoking cessation training.
4. Take responsibility for own professional development in accordance with the outcomes from the annual development review, in order to meet the requirements of the Knowledge and Skills Framework and appraisal system.
5. Responsible for accurate uploading of own client data onto the database whilst ensuring client confidentiality.
6. Ensure follow-up of clients is done in line with service protocol.
7. Keep accurate records in accordance with trust policy and data protection.
8. Maintain an up-to-date electronic diary that is available to colleagues within the Stop Smoking team.
9. Assist in producing reports and analysis of data that contribute towards improving service delivery and better client care.
10. Utilise a range of complex motivational, influencing, and negotiating skills to increase clients' motivation and adherence to stop smoking.
11. Responsible for personally identifiable client data as part of ongoing programme attendance, working within the data protection policies.
12. Contribute to training, seminars, and presentations across a range of agencies and organisations.

Qualifications
* Education to GCSE Standard at grades A-C for a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent including Mathematics and English language or literature.
* NCSCT Smoking Cessation Certified.
* Training will be provided; however, a health degree or equivalent is advantageous.
