Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant (RA) to join the Prorok Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, at the University of Cambridge, UK.
The Research Assistant will work together with a team of students and research collaborators on the development of decentralized cooperative robot policies that respond to higher order mission specifications given through natural language.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have a Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will be proficient in working with LLMs including fine-tuning and leveraging pre-trained models. They will also have an understanding of NLPs and familiarity and hands-on experience of multi-robot systems.
The main objective of this role is to demonstrate the feasibility of learning low-latency multi-robot control policies that can follow natural language instructions, with a focus on practical real-world deployments.
The Prorok Lab has a variety of robotic platforms (aerial and ground), and boasts expertise in controlling and deploying them in practice, as well as in designing coordination strategies for them. A high degree of self-motivation, research-oriented thinking, and a drive for getting real robotic systems up and running are all essential traits for this position.

Salary: £32,296 to £34,866 per annum
