Summary We're looking for a General Manager to join us at our Liverpool portfolio in an exciting role caring for and looking after a diverse range of special places in the Liverpool City Region; Speke Hall, the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and the Hardmans’ House and collection. Looking after urban places and removing barriers to nature, beauty and history is a core part of the National Trust's strategy, and Liverpool will be key to our delivery of these ambitions. You’ll look for opportunities to extend our impact and delivery at a city-wide scale, as well as for our members and visitors at the places we look after. Your contractual place of work will be at Speke Hall. You should expect to be at a property in your portfolio for 80% of your working week. This role will involve some weekend working (roughly 1 in 4) as well as occasional evenings, you can take the time back in lieu. Please ensure you include a cover letter as part of your application. What it's like to work here Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations, you'll work alongside a wider leadership community across the Northwest region. You’ll work with our internal Consultancy and external partners to achieve our goals and champion our cause message, and you'll lead a team of dedicated staff and volunteers at the Liverpool properties. The role is varied; one day you could be leading a discussion seminar in the city region, the next you could be working with your team to form the strategic direction of the portfolio, and the next you could find yourself as duty manager at a property, responsible for the smooth running that day. What you'll be doing Leading a team of department heads and working with a large network of national and regional specialists, you’ll develop new ways to engage our supporters, deliver great experiences, meet our conservation requirements, and commercially diversify the estate. You’ll support departments to develop the right priorities, balancing access and conservation while providing the resources and inspirational leadership, ensuring their care, confidence, and capability in delivering our strategy. Behind all this work sits a strong culture of risk management and compliance. You'll ensure that all our operations are safe and managed to the highest standards and you’ll understand, anticipate, and manage issues that could affect the Trust’s reputation, finances or assets. The scale of this role means you'll need to be brilliant with finances, people, and projects. You’ll need to know when to delegate, and when to take ownership.
