Job Summary: The post holder will undertake wound assessments with support of the trained clinicians for patients attending with simple wounds within their scope of practice. Patients who will be referred to this service will include:
* Post operative including suture and staple removal
* Leg Ulcer may require doppler
* Post trauma skin tears, self-harm
* Cavity Wounds - packing
* Burns
* Patient education including nutrition in relation to wound healing and scar management
The post holder will also contribute to administrative, reception/floorwalker and housekeeping duties within the service location.
Duties And Responsibilities:
1. Endeavour to maintain good standards of communication both in written and oral form.
2. To be able to undertake Aseptic technique when cleaning a wound and applying dressing when required post this.
3. To Support trained clinicians in the day to day running of the clinic.
4. Take responsibility for the cleaning and stocking of clinical areas.
5. Dispose of clinical waste in a safe manner for each clinical room.
6. To complete an order form for stores sending to the Ops specialist.
7. Participate in promoting and implementing services to new sites when required by the ICB for the expansion of the service.
8. Make entries on patient records to record clinical interventions.
9. Make entries in the clinical notes using the service area's computer programme ADASTRA.
10. Complete associated documents to accompany specimens using Cyberlab where available and label specimens.
11. Work well within a small team.
12. Be flexible with working pattern across the current locations to assist with teams Annual leave/sickness to ensure the service is always covered.
13. Communicate with patients and carers in a polite and pleasant manner.
14. Receive and deliver patient related information to and from other departments via the telephone/emails.
15. To ensure mandatory training is up to date.
16. To be aware of any safeguarding issues and refer to local social services as appropriate.
17. To keep self-updated on practice through educational events and guidelines both local and national.
18. Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language, and emotion.
19. May be required to encourage patients to comply with programmes of care.
20. Initiate emergency action when required.
21. Inform the Clinical Manager/Trained clinician who working with on the day of any untoward incidents.
22. Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to infection control policies/procedures.

Education and In Service Training: Be fully conversant in all the clinical computer systems used within the North Lancashire Wound Care Service. Attend relevant study/induction days, seminars, courses etc. for individual development and for the benefit of the service. Keep up to date with mandatory training. Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged.
