We are currently recruiting a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker. This is a part-time post working 34.5 hours a week on a permanent contract, to be part of our Stroke and General Rehab Inpatient Unit at Evesham Community Hospital. The candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to achieve specific rehabilitation goals. This will be a challenging and exciting opportunity and will enable the individual to develop new and existing skills.

Main duties of the job
1. Assist with admitting patients to the ward and the care of their relatives.
2. Carry out assigned patient care duties as directed by registered health professionals without direct supervision. Examples of these (but not a conclusive list) may include measuring height, weight, taking temperature, pulse, respirations, SaO2, manual and electronic BP, urinalysis, and assisting with feeding.
3. Carry out delegated nursing care relevant to the area.
4. Provide safe and effective care.
5. Identify areas for improvement.
6. Assist patients with attending to the activities of daily living and support the therapy team with the rehabilitation of the patient.
7. Assist patients to sit up or out for breakfast.
8. Serve and prepare meals/breakfast and drinks, helping to assist patients when required. Complete appropriate paperwork i.e., food diaries and fluid balance charts.
9. Assist patients with morning personal care and dressing.
10. Carry out patient weekly assessments which involve weighing, cleaning and checking mattress, catheter bag change when required.
11. Assist patients with toileting.
12. Support patients to bed, attaching catheter night bags when required.
13. Comply with policies and procedures of the ward.
14. Assist teams with administrative duties and communication with patients regarding appointments and changes to their care.

Qualifications
* Vocational qualification level 3 or equivalent / level 2 qualification in care and willing to undertake relevant level 3 qualification upon appointment.
* Care Certificate or expected to gain within 12 weeks of commencing in Trust.
* Willing and able to undertake Safety Intervention training.
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at the point of offer.
Experience
* Experience of working in a care environment.
* Nursing experience within the NHS / Hospital Setting.
* Experience of working in general medicine or rehabilitation.
Knowledge
* Basic knowledge of nursing adults and/or training.
* Basic IT Skills.
Additional Criteria
* Common sense.
* Empathetic caring nature.
* Reliable.

* Willingness to undertake further training.
