The role
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to carry out and ensure electricity networks are designed in a safe and professional manner and to a high standard in line with Sinewave's directives and DNO/IDNO or private network standards with a key focus on designs up to 11kV.
An idea of what you'll be doing:
1. Design and plan electricity distribution networks primarily between LV and 11kV but this can vary up to 33kV, including carrying out upfront feasibility studies to evaluate system design options.
2. Create a variety of diagrams in line with requirements, including schematic diagrams from basic philosophy and engineer's sketches, high voltage power cable routing diagrams, detailed schemes and wiring diagrams, and multicore diagram and schedules.
3. Create detailed protection and metering single line diagrams.
4. Produce earthing studies and create associated drawings for review.
5. Maintain accuracy of designs including cable entry points into substations with suitable measurements.
6. Manage & control design changes with clients, IDNO & civils teams.

Requirements
You'll have a proven track record of:
1. Creating electrical designs up to 11kV (desirable 33kV to 132kV knowledge).
2. Carrying out pre-construction risk assessments and impact studies caused by increased fault levels.
3. Providing technical advice and assistance to other members of staff.
4. Producing specifications to allow Turnkey type contracts to be tendered along with full technical appraisal on tender return.
5. Creating technical specifications for all major plant and equipment, protection and control equipment and auxiliary equipment such as batteries and LVAC boards.
6. Completing technical reports as required for capital spend approval.
You'll be a successful Design Engineer already have experience & qualifications in:
1. Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smartphones, tablets, laptops etc.
2. Excellent communication, including ability to adapt communication styles and outstanding listening skills with ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
3. Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team.
4. Excellent knowledge within the electrical power distribution industry and its standards, practices, and procedures.
5. Expertise and confident ability to design at voltage levels up to 11kV (with exposure to 33kV) in the Power Distribution Industry.
6. Good understanding of DNO G81 or BS7671 Documentation and Design.
7. Extensive knowledge of CDM requirements.
8. Degree in Engineering or similar.
9. City and guilds qualification.
10. Desire to progress to gain professional registration i.e. IET, IEng or EngTech.
11. Experience of working in or with a DNO or IDNO.
12. Experience in the utility industry using Amtec and Windebut.
13. Experience in using AutoCAD.
