I am currently looking for an SEN teacher who is experienced working with children with autism and/or SLD to join a delightful SEN school in the Twickenham area. The school are going through an unprecedented period of growth and you will be joining their new site for 7-16 year olds pupils in the Twickenham area which opens its doors after the May half term which is their 4th it site.
In response to their heavy over-subscription these new sites are opening and the school are seeking to appoint a quality SEN teacher to join their team from the start of May if not sooner. The role will be to teach a mixed KS2/3 class working at KS1 levels who have moderate to complex autism. You will be setting up a new class with lots of SLT support. You will have 5 pupils who will be new to the school to transition and your class will be supported by an HLTA and 2 TAs all of whom will be full time.
SEN Teacher Roles & Responsibilities
This Twickenham based SEN Teacher role will require leading, delivering and co-ordinating lessons and curriculum to a class of 5 primary students that have moderate cognitive and developmental difficulties including autism. You will need to be committed to ensuring pupils make good progress and encourage pupils to reach their potential through engaging and stimulating multi-sensory teaching. It is important that you are a good line manager, can set targets, can plan a sensory curriculum, write reports, liaise with parents and external agencies and communicate well with fellow staff.

SEN Teacher Duties Would Include
9. Inspiring and engaging and developing the social skills of children with profound & multiple learning difficulties.
10. Assessing individual learning needs and working with experienced LSAs in class
11. Assessing and reporting on individual pupil's progress.
12. Liaising with your head of department to ensure that all mid and long term targets and tracking data are accurate.
The Ideal SEN Teacher Candidate
13. QTS or a UK recognised teaching qualification
14. To be able to differentiate work to students depending on their need and abilities.
15. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with other staff members.
16. The ability to use initiative and can work well under pressure.
17. PECS or Makaton trained is desirable
18. Experience teaching in a UK SEN school environment would be desirable though not essential
