Direct reports: Planning / Scheduling Team Scope Of Role The Planning Manager will form an integral part of the Operations Leadership Team with direct line management responsibility for the Planning team and indirect responsibility for the Supply Chain demand and material control. Experience in highly regulated sector and / or Automotive business with a strong, solid background in most Manufacturing practices, all Planning processes, MRP control / understanding and Demand / Inventory Management involvement. The Planning Manager will also play an integral role in the contribution and execution of the S&OP process. Main Duties/Responsibilities Lead, maintain and manage the open order book sales plan with focus on short-, medium- and long-term planning with input from Purchasing, Customer Services and Operations via regular daily, weekly and monthly reviews Manage the Master Production Schedule via the order book acknowledgement process, which considers component lead-times and known capacity constraints Improve and maintain high levels of sales order execution forecast accuracy (Target /- 5%) Ensure all daily planning activities are executed within the service levels that the business needs. KPI led metrics on planner / schedulers Develop into and act as MRP “Super User” for the planning department Focus on Production Order OTIF with Operations to drive customer satisfaction Develop, mentor and coach all members of the Planning Team encouraging an ACE culture Support NPI for all new business programs Expected to implement a CI methodology to improve business processes and procedures Support all elements of the S&OP requirements with extended Senior Leadership Team to support Key Business Sales targets whilst appreciating Cumulative lead times and limitations Run and develop reports to ensure MRP parameters are within policy Level Load the executable Sales plan within MRP system Support all and any ERP projects that to help to drive business optimisation Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction On occasion you will be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments Limits of Fiscal/Management Authority Not permitted to change Business Management processes, procedures and guidelines without formal approval but encouraged to make recommendations Standard Company Responsibilities Take responsibility for understanding the Business Management System and how it is applied to the role Adhere to Health and Safety requirements at all times There is a responsibility on all employees to bring to the attention of their manager any issues that could potentially affect the business, regardless of how small they may seem at the time All duties within this job description should be carried out in line with any Company policies and procedures in place at the time and in line with any requirements set out in the Business Management System Professional Knowledge & Experience Proven ability to lead and execute SIOP Full understanding of MRP parameters and functionality Demonstrates solid analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities. Proven ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under pressure. High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum) Experienced in works order control A proven understanding of traceability Representing the section at internal meetings and presenting planning performance achievements Continuous development of self Ability to lead projects and negotiate with cross functional and cross market teams. Good business writing skills and ability to use networks to influence business activity and convince others. Excellent interpersonal skills with good relationship building skills.
